Our Organization

Juntos Energy Solutions, NFP is also known by its more concise name, Juntos NFP.

“Juntos”  is the Portuguese and Spanish word for “together.” Quite literally, Juntos NFP works together with implementation associates and a wide array of contributors, hopefully including you. “NFP” stands for “Not For Profit”, the legal designation of Juntos NFP as an active entity. NFP or nfp are repeated in our name and website address as a constant reminder that Juntos NFP is focused on putting the maximum of funds into action for the benefit of impoverished, deserving people, and not into overhead costs.

From its incorporation in January 2013 through December 2016, Juntos NFP was inactive and had zero financial transactions. Beginning in January 2017, Juntos NFP has the following activities:

1. Inform others (public and private) about the Juntos NFP objectives and activities, seeking financial support. This is via writings, websites, presentations (oral and graphic), interviews, etc. There is a strong educational component. These are mainly conducted by Dr. Anderson, Founder and Exec. Dir. of Juntos NFP, who is not a member of the Juntos NFP board of directors as of 24 March 2017. The informational and fund-raising activities are starting after the post-mark date (early April 2017) and are primarily in the USA, but there is worldwide outreach via websites and conferences. This educational effort stimulates the needed income so that the assistance to impoverished families can occur.

2. Collection of funds from three types of sources:
A. Grants from individuals, entities, governmental units, etc.
B. Loans (typically for 3-years) that are secured and repaid by the future creation of carbon credits.
C. Receiving funds for carbon credits that come from project activities.
All financial actions (including names of contributors and amounts) are recorded in the Juntos NFP database.

3. Selection of recipient communities and specific households is done in consultation with our participating associates. The initial community is in eastern Darjeeling District, West Bengal, India, and expanding into India. Activities in other countries will be conducted when appropriate funding and essential conditions (such as sufficient supplies of appropriate cookstoves) become available. Further details are discussed later in Part VIII Line 13f: Selection process.

4. Transfer of funds to appropriate destinations is only via major banking channels and fully documented.

5. Monitoring. In addition to receiving reports from the implementation associates, the sites of the activities are visited at least yearly by independent observers and by Juntos NFP management and representatives.

6. Verification of Carbon Credits, and their entry into the Juntos NFP database, using recognized independent, third-party, experienced verifiers.

7. Issuance of all financial receipts and all carbon credit certificates, including the record keeping on the official database to show the retirement (unavailability) of carbon credits that have been acquired for a specific carbon offset of the purchaser.

8. Filing of all necessary reports to authorized agencies, including the IRS.
